If you’re already dreaming about a Walt Disney World 2027 vacation, you’re right on time. Every date from January through December is open to book, the first big discounts have dropped, and Disney has shared enough news to know what’s opening, what’s coming back, and what’s still a question mark. 2027 brings a brand new resort on Bay Lake, the first pieces of a Monsters, Inc. land, and a few classic favorites getting a fresh look.
As a Disney travel planner, I want your Disney World 2027 planning to feel exciting instead of overwhelming. That starts with knowing what’s new in the parks, which dates belong on your calendar now, how vacation packages work this year, and why booking early with a travel agent watching for deals can save you real money.
Before you get started, grab your Free Walt Disney World 2027 Planning Guide. It has a booking timeline, the key 2027 dates in one spot, and a simple budget tracker you’ll use the whole way through.

What’s New at Walt Disney World 2027
Walt Disney World is in a bit of an in-between year before the biggest expansions arrive, but 2027 still brings a new resort, the first phase of a brand new land, and updates that change how you’ll plan. If it’s been a while since your last trip, the changes that happened in 2026 like the Muppets takeover of Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster and the recharged Buzz Lightyear Space Ranger Spin give you even more to catch up on.
Disney’s Lakeshore Lodge Opens July 1, 2027
The biggest new arrival of the year is Disney’s Lakeshore Lodge, a new Disney Vacation Club resort opening July 1, 2027 along the shores of Bay Lake between Wilderness Lodge and Fort Wilderness. You don’t need to be a DVC member to stay, and Magic Kingdom is only a boat ride away. The whole resort celebrates nature through Disney animation, with nods to Bambi, Pocahontas, Brother Bear, Encanto, and Fantasia. Walk into the lobby and you’ll find a shimmering fiber-optic river running across the floor and a Colors of the Wind glass sculpture with hundreds of glass leaves overhead.
Rooms range from cozy Encanto-inspired duo studios to one and two bedroom Lake Houses, which are freestanding A-frame retreats right on the water with full kitchens, private porches, and a Northern Lights glow in the primary bedroom. The Wetlands recreation area includes a zero-entry pool with a spiral slide, a lazy river called Daydream River, and a quieter leisure pool with views of the Magic Kingdom fireworks. For dinner, Moonglade is the lakefront table service restaurant, Bay Lake Provisions handles coffee and quick service, Paint Out Point Bar & Grill covers poolside bites, and Dandelion Terrace is a two-story lounge designed around the fireworks over the water.
Reservations are open to everyone now, with opening season rates starting around $500 a night. Lakeshore Lodge isn’t part of the current 2027 discounts, and rates stay pretty steady from July through September. Unless opening week itself is the goal, there’s no need to panic-book. If staying somewhere brand new is high on your wish list, reserve the dates you want and let your travel agent keep an eye out for a deal to apply later.
Monstropolis Begins Opening at Hollywood Studios
Hollywood Studios starts welcoming humans to Monstropolis in 2027. The new Monsters, Inc. land picks up after the events of the movie, when monsters have invited humans in to explore their city. The first phase includes Welcome to Monstropolis, a new show at the Glob Theater hosted by Mike and Sulley with an original song by Randy Newman, and Harryhausen’s, the sushi restaurant from the film complete with a sushi chef Audio-Animatronics figure hard at work.
You’ll also find Archie’s Scare Pig Pizza, a quick service spot with a Monsters University twist, and Scareporium for monster-approved souvenirs. Set your expectations on the big ride, though. The Monsters, Inc. door coaster, which will be Disney’s first suspended coaster, isn’t part of the 2027 opening, and Disney hasn’t shared a date for it yet. Monstropolis is still a fun reason to visit next year, but if the coaster is the main draw for your crew, a later trip makes more sense.
Tropical Americas Takes Shape at Animal Kingdom
Tropical Americas is the new 11-acre land coming to Animal Kingdom where DinoLand U.S.A. used to be. It will be home to Antonio’s Fiesta de Encanto, the first Encanto ride-through attraction at a Disney park, and Indiana Jones and the Myth of the Jade Serpent, a brand new Indy adventure that replaces DINOSAUR. In between, the village of Pueblo Esperanza will feature El Carrusel de los Animalitos, a hand-carved carousel with animals inspired by Disney and Pixar stories.
Disney originally announced a 2027 opening, but in September the official Disney World website removed that year from the land’s description. There’s been no official word on a delay, and while some reports say late 2027 is still the target, others think a phased opening or a 2028 debut is more realistic. If Encanto or Indiana Jones are must-dos for your family, keep your dates flexible and check in before you finalize anything.
Walt Disney’s Carousel of Progress Returns
Carousel of Progress closed in July 2026 for its biggest update in decades and is scheduled to reopen in late spring 2027. Every scene is moving forward into new decades, and for the first time Walt Disney himself will appear in the attraction that bears his name, as an Audio-Animatronics figure in a brand new opening scene. Bryan Cranston voices John and Jamie Lee Curtis voices Sarah, so the family you know is getting a fresh cast and a whole new set of gadgets to figure out.
Three Dining Plan Options for 2027
Dining plans get a bigger lineup in 2027. You can choose the Quick-Service Dining Plan, the Table-Service Dining Plan, or the new Deluxe Table-Service Dining Plan, which includes two table service meals per person each night for families who love planning their days around sit-down meals. Each plan includes a resort refillable mug, and nightly prices run about $63 per adult for Quick-Service, $100 for Table-Service, and $163 for Deluxe Table-Service, with lower rates for kids ages 3 to 9.
The kids deal looks different this year. The free dining plan for kids that ran through 2026 isn’t coming back, and Disney is now advertising that families can save up to 20% on dining for kids ages 3 to 9 when they book a 2027 package with a dining plan. Read the fine print before you count on that number. The savings compare the kids dining plan to paying full menu price for those same kids’ items out of pocket, so it reflects the plan’s best-case value rather than a guaranteed discount.
How much you save depends entirely on what your kids order. Little ones who stick to lighter meals or skip the snack credits may save very little, or even come out behind paying as you go. A dining plan can still be a great fit if you love having meals prepaid and planned ahead, so run the numbers for your family first. If you add one, a few simple strategies help you make the most of the dining plan, like saving table service credits for character meals and the restaurants you’re most excited about.
Early Entry and Extended Evening Hours Continue
All three resort perks are confirmed for 2027. Every Disney resort guest can enter all four theme parks 30 minutes early each day, and guests at Deluxe and Disney Vacation Club resorts get Extended Evening Hours on select nights. During summer 2027, resort guests also get free water park admission on check-in day, though the Fort Wilderness campsites aren’t eligible. Add the early booking window for Lightning Lanes and the benefits of staying on Disney property stack up quickly.

Projects to Keep on Your Radar
Some of what’s coming next is still behind construction walls, but knowing about it now means nothing catches you off guard.
At Magic Kingdom, work continues on Piston Peak National Park, a new Cars area in Frontierland, and Villains Land. Neither is expected to open in 2027, and the Walt Disney World Railroad has been running in a limited shuttle mode during construction.
At EPCOT, Spaceship Earth is being reimagined around the theme of human connection, and Journey Into Imagination will bring Dreamfinder back alongside Figment. No dates have been set for either project, but closures could begin in 2027, so if riding Spaceship Earth is a family tradition, plan it for earlier in the year.
Over at Disney’s BoardWalk, a new quick service restaurant is on the way, joining the newly opened Hurly-Burly lounge with its family trivia in the afternoon and 21-and-over live music at night.

Walt Disney World 2027 Event Calendar and Seasonal Highlights
Seasonal events are one of the easiest ways to make a trip feel extra special, and Disney has already shared dates for most of the first half of 2027. Fall and holiday event dates usually come later in the year, so I’ve included the typical windows to help you plan around them.
Winter Events in Early 2027
The year kicks off with Walt Disney World Marathon Weekend from January 6 to 10, 2027, with races for every level from the 5K to the full marathon plus the Goofy and Dopey Challenges. Resorts fill up quickly that week, and booking early matters even if you’re only there for the parks.
The EPCOT International Festival of the Arts runs January 15 through March 1, 2027, a full week longer than in 2026. It’s a wonderful way to enjoy EPCOT in cooler weather, with food that looks like it belongs in a gallery, the free Disney on Broadway Concert Series, and Disney Lorcana scavenger hunts for card game fans.
Disney After Hours starts in January too. Magic Kingdom After Hours begins January 11 and continues on select nights through July 19, Hollywood Studios hosts its events January 16 through August 25, and EPCOT’s dates stretch from January 21 through August 19. Magic Kingdom tickets range from $189 to $209 per person, Hollywood Studios from $159 to $199, and EPCOT from $159 to $189. Annual Passholders and DVC members save $30 at EPCOT and Hollywood Studios.
Spring Events in 2027
Disney Princess Half Marathon Weekend takes place February 25 through March 1, 2027, with the 5K themed to Tiana, the 10K to Snow White, and the half marathon to Jasmine.
Right after Festival of the Arts wraps, the EPCOT International Flower & Garden Festival blooms from March 10 to May 31, 2027 with character topiaries, Outdoor Kitchens, and the Garden Rocks Concert Series.
runDisney Springtime Surprise Weekend moved a week earlier to April 8 through 11, 2027, with a Running Through the Years theme celebrating characters from across Disney animation history. Spring break weeks in March and April are some of the busiest of the year, and this race weekend now lands right in the thick of them, which means fuller parks and resorts.
Late spring also brings the reopening of Carousel of Progress, giving Tomorrowland a fresh reason to slow down and sit for a show.
Summer 2027 at Walt Disney World
Summer belongs to Disney’s Lakeshore Lodge, which opens July 1, and the return of free water park admission on check-in day for resort guests. Disney hasn’t shared 2027 dates for summer extras like H2O Glow After Hours at Typhoon Lagoon or a kids celebration like Cool Kids Summer, but both have been part of recent summers, so watch for news in early 2027.
Summer heat and afternoon storms come with the territory, which makes a midday break at your resort pool a smart move instead of a wasted one.
If the first phase of Tropical Americas opens around then, Animal Kingdom could also have a fun new reason to visit.
Fall and Holiday Season 2027
Fall and holiday event dates for 2027 haven’t been announced yet, but the pattern is pretty reliable. The EPCOT International Food & Wine Festival usually starts in late August and runs into late November, and Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party typically begins in August on select nights through October 31. Disney Wine & Dine Half Marathon Weekend is usually held in October, and in 2026 it ran October 22 to 25.
The holiday season brings both Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party on select November and December nights at Magic Kingdom and Jollywood Nights on select November and December nights at Hollywood Studios. These parties sell out more every year, so if one is on your list, plan to buy tickets as soon as they’re released. You’ll also be able to enjoy the EPCOT Festival of the Holidays from late November through the end of December.
Holiday 2027 resort stays are already open to book, which means you can lock in your room long before party dates are announced.

Best Times to Visit Walt Disney World 2027
The best time to visit Walt Disney World in 2027 depends on what matters most to you, whether that’s lower crowds, better prices, cooler weather, or seeing what’s new. There’s no perfect week for every family, but choosing your dates with intention makes a huge difference.
For lighter crowds and lower prices, look at late April through mid-May after spring break ends, late August through September, and early December before the holiday rush. Single-day tickets start at $119 at Animal Kingdom on the least expensive dates, which usually land in late August and September. Winter has gotten busier in recent years, and January and February aren’t the bargain they used to be, especially around marathon weekend and Presidents’ Day.
Deals are another reason to look at the first half of the year. Disney has already released savings of up to $250 per night on select 4-night packages for many nights from January 3 through July 28, 2027, with the biggest savings at Deluxe resorts. Room-only stays can save up to 25% on select nights from January 3 through April 29, while Disney Visa cardmembers can save up to 30% and Annual Passholders up to 35% in that same window.
If seeing the newest additions is your top priority, a later 2027 trip gives you the best shot at Lakeshore Lodge, Monstropolis, the new Carousel of Progress, and at least part of Tropical Americas. A Disney travel planner can help you weigh crowds, prices, and openings so you land on dates that fit your family.

How to Choose the Right Walt Disney World 2027 Vacation Package
Disney World 2027 planning gets a lot simpler once you understand what a vacation package includes and when it makes sense. A package bundles your Disney resort hotel and theme park tickets, and you can add a dining plan, Park Hopper ticket upgrade, or Memory Maker. Packages for arrivals from January 1 through October 31, 2027 have been on sale since April 2026, with November and December dates released later.
Packages require a $200 deposit with the balance due 30 days before arrival, while room-only reservations usually need a one-night deposit and offer more flexibility. Neither option is wrong. It depends on whether you’d rather lock everything in now or keep your plans open a little longer, and many discounts can be added to an existing reservation once they’re released, which is one of the biggest perks of booking early with an agent keeping watch.
Choosing the right resort is the next big piece. Value, Moderate, and Deluxe resorts each come with different amenities, price points, and transportation options. Families with little ones often love staying close to Magic Kingdom, while resorts on the Skyliner make EPCOT and Hollywood Studios days easy for adults and older kids. Lakeshore Lodge adds a new Magic Kingdom-area option starting July 1, including its very first holiday season.
Finally, decide whether a Park Hopper makes sense for your group. If you love hopping over to EPCOT for festival snacks after a morning somewhere else, it pays for itself fast. If you prefer one park a day at a slower pace, a standard ticket saves money you can put toward something you’ll enjoy more.
Planning a Disney vacation can feel like a full-time job—trust me, I get it! As your travel agent, I’ll take care of the details, so you can focus on the fun stuff (like deciding which snack to try first). Let’s plan that vacation you’ve been dreaming of!
Booking Your Walt Disney World 2027 Vacation Package
Booking feels much more manageable when you take it one decision at a time. Follow these steps in order and nothing important slips through the cracks.
Choose Your Travel Dates and Resort
Start with your ideal travel window. Think about crowds, weather, the events you’d love to experience, and whether any new openings matter to you. Once you have dates in mind, pick the Disney resort that fits your family’s style and budget so you can take advantage of early entry and free transportation.
Set a Realistic Budget
Outline a rough budget before you book anything. Include your resort, tickets, food, travel, souvenirs, and extras like Lightning Lanes or party tickets. Saving for Disney is much easier when you know your number early and can spread it out over the months ahead.
Pick Your Package Add-Ons
Decide whether you want a dining plan, Park Hopper, or Memory Maker added to your package. This is also the right time to think about travel insurance and a payment plan that keeps your budget comfortable.
Mark the Key Booking Windows
Several parts of your trip open on a set schedule, so add these dates to your calendar the moment you book. Dining reservations open 60 days before your arrival, and Disney resort guests can book for their entire stay at once. Lightning Lane purchases open 7 days before arrival for Disney resort guests and 3 days before for everyone else. Final payment on a package is due 30 days before check in, and many special experiences also open around the 60 day mark.
Map Out Your Park Days
Once your package is booked, sketch out which park you’ll visit each day and the rides, shows, and snacks that feel like must-dos. Leave room for rest and flexibility, because a pool afternoon can be the thing that saves the whole trip. Building a simple Disney World vacation planning timeline that works backward from your arrival date keeps each step from sneaking up on you.
Prep for a Smooth Trip
As your trip gets closer, pack your essentials, download the My Disney Experience app, check park hours and entertainment schedules, and confirm every reservation. Taking care of these details ahead of time means you can relax and enjoy the moment once you arrive.

Frequently Asked Questions About Walt Disney World 2027
- When can I book a Walt Disney World 2027 vacation?
- Right now. Packages, resort stays, and tickets are open for the entire year, including November and December 2027. Holiday travelers can lock in their resort today.
- Will Tropical Americas be open in 2027?
- Possibly in part. Disney originally targeted 2027, but the opening year was recently removed from the official website. The current expectation is a phased opening, with the bigger rides possibly arriving late in 2027 or in 2028.
- Is free dining for kids available in 2027?
- No, it’s not. The free kids dining plan from 2026 isn’t returning. Disney advertises up to 20% savings on kids dining with a 2027 dining plan, but that’s compared to full menu prices, so real savings depend on what your kids order.
- Should I wait until 2028 to visit?
- Only if specific new rides like the Monsters, Inc. door coaster or the Encanto attraction are the main reason for your trip. Otherwise, 2027 brings strong discounts, a new resort, and plenty of recent additions, so there’s no reason to put off making memories.
- Can I plan a great trip without Lightning Lanes?
- Yes. Lightning Lanes are optional, and you can still have a wonderful trip by arriving early, using early entry, and planning your park days around the attractions that matter most.
