DIY Facial Astringent for Clear Skin

I have continued to research and try to improve my skin care routine and the products I’ve been using.  An astringent helps to cleanse and shrink your pores.  It helps with oily and acne prone skin.  I decided to customize my own astringent and save some money!  I use this one a cotton pad only at night before going to bed.

This is super simple to make and doesn’t sting like some store-bought cleansers do.  All you need is 100% witch hazel and some essential oils!

You can find witch hazel in pretty much any pharmacy section.  It has a lot of great benefits on its own (tightening skin, fighting bacteria, etc.)

I fill a glass container that has a spout (intended for cooking oils in the kitchen) mostly full of the witch hazel.  Then I add in my essential oils.  You can make so many different combinations with these!  They add extra benefits to the witch hazel and make it smell great.

I chose to use Frankincense, Purification, and Valor.  I added about 10 drops of each into the bottle.  Then I just put the cap on the spout and turn it upside down and back, gently, several times to mix it up.

Frankincense is great to use on skin.  It helps to make your skin look more radiant and smooth.  Purification is an oil blend that soothes your skin.  Valor is also a blend and creates a feeling of refreshment and calming.

Some other great oils you can use with the witch hazel are lavender, tee tree, rose, chamomile, and myrrh.

It’s that easy! Plus, the glass bottle looks pretty on the counter 🙂

How to Wear a Scarf: 6 Different Ways

Pink scarf flat lay

Scarf weather is almost here!

I wanted to share with you 6 different ways to wear 1 scarf so you can get even more wear out of it.

The first way is the traditional way, wrapped around the neck with the ends hanging down in front.

The second is the loop.  Fold the scarf in half behind the neck and pull the ends through the loop.

The third way is a simple knot made in the front.

For the fourth, I made a regular scarf an infinity scarf by knotting the ends together behind the neck.

Then the fifth way is done by keeping the scarf as an infinity scarf and doubling it up.

The last way, I tied a bow on the side.

How do you wear your scarves?  I love new ideas!  Post yours in the comments 🙂

Create Your Own Arm Party or Bracelet Stack!

Photo of Bracelets on Stand to create Bracelet Stacks

What is a Bracelet Stack?

Bracelet stacks, or arm parties, are such a fun trend! Are you a fan? I know I am. A bracelet stack is a curated mix of bracelets worn all on one wrist, each stacked on top of another.

How to Create Your Own Bracelet Stack

So, how do you make your own arm party? This post will help you get started to create a signature style that’s all your own.

It’s really pretty simple. I have some bracelets that I wear pretty much every day. Then I mix in others that coordinate with my outfit for that day. I have some gold and some silver bracelets too, depending on what works with my look. I typically wear one or the other, but you can definitely mix the two together. Some are thin and dainty while others are large and make a statement. It’s all about creating a balance that works for you.

Bracelet Inspiration

Some of my favorite bracelet brands:  Bourbon & Boweties, Kate Spade, Stella & Dot, Alex and Ani, and Erimish.

Eventually you will build your bracelet collection and be able to mix and match to make so many fun stacks! I really love to collect bracelets from places we’ve traveled or that have a significance. I think your arm party is even better if your bracelets can tell a story. How special is that?

How to Organize Your Bracelets

I store my most worn bracelets on a simple bracelet bar on a shelf in my dressing room. This makes it easy to see them and grab them while I’m getting ready to start my day. I keep the larger, bulkier bracelets in a drawer in my jewelry armoire.

If you’re going bold and making a statement with your bracelets, I suggest keeping your other jewelry pieces simple.

Are you on board? Show me your arm parties! Do you have any other brands I should check out?  I’d love to hear them!
