What is Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party?

Before we dive into the tips, let’s quickly explain what Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party is all about. MNSSHP is a special event held on select nights from August through October at Magic Kingdom in Walt Disney World. The party features exclusive Halloween-themed entertainment, special character meet and greets, trick-or-treating throughout the park, and so much more. It’s a separately ticketed event, which means you’ll need to purchase a special party ticket in addition to, or instead of, your regular park admission.

Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party 2026 at a Glance

The 2026 event runs on select nights between August 7 and October 31, which makes this the earliest start date the party has ever had. Ticket prices range from $119 to $229 plus tax depending on the date you choose, with the lowest prices in August and the highest closer to Halloween and on weekends.

Party hours are officially 7:00 PM to midnight, but your ticket gets you into Magic Kingdom as early as 4:00 PM. That gives you a few extra hours in the park to settle in, ride a couple attractions, and grab dinner before the party-exclusive fun begins.

This year brings two brand-new experiences plus all the returning favorites, so there is plenty of reason to make the trip.

Best Tips for Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party 2026

Let’s get into all the things you’ll want to know to plan the best night possible at Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party 2026. These are some of the same tips I give my travel clients and they have helped so many families have a stress-free, extra magical evening.

Arrive Early to Make the Most of It

Even though the party officially starts at 7 PM, you can enter the park as early as 4 PM with your ticket, and I highly recommend that you do. Those three extra hours give you time to grab dinner, knock out a few attractions before party crowds arrive, and explore the park in the daylight before the spooky lighting kicks in. It is honestly one of the easiest ways to feel like you got more out of your party ticket.

Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party 2026 Tips

Yes, You Should Wear a Costume

This is your chance to go all in with the Disney Halloween vibes, no matter your age. Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party is one of the rare events where adults are actually encouraged to wear costumes inside the parks. And people go all out.

Costumes are encouraged for Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party, but comfort is key. Florida weather can be hot and humid even in the fall, so choose something lightweight and breathable. Comfortable shoes are a must for all the walking you’ll do. Before you finalize anything, review what is acceptable and what is not on the Walt Disney World dress guidelines. No one wants to be turned away at the gates or sent back to their resort to change.

Consider coordinating costumes with your group or family. Themed costumes can add an extra layer of fun to your Disney Halloween experience. Popular choices include Disney characters, classic Halloween figures, or even a mix of both. If a full costume feels like too much, a Disney-inspired Halloween tee with a few spooky accessories still counts. If you want a little inspiration, my roundup of what to wear to Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party walks through easy ideas for the whole crew.

Plan Out Your Party Treats

Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party features exclusive food and beverage offerings, and with so many tempting goodies it can be tough to resist trying everything. Decide which special treats you really want, then focus on those. Savory or sweet, I always recommend grabbing a few and sharing bites so you can taste more without overdoing it. Check the event guide or the My Disney Experience app for menus and locations.

Don’t Skip the Fireworks

The party features a special fireworks show called Disney’s Not So Spooky Spectacular, and it is absolutely worth staying for. It is included with your party ticket and it is not available to see any other time of year. The show combines fireworks, projections, and music into a villain-themed spectacle over Cinderella Castle, so find a spot with a clear view well before showtime for the best experience.

Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party 2026 Tips

Prioritize the Boo to You Parade

Mickey’s Boo to You Parade is a true highlight, featuring beloved Disney characters in their Halloween best, as well as appearances by rarely seen characters like the Haunted Mansion’s Hitchhiking Ghosts. The parade runs twice each night, and the Headless Horseman rides ahead of both showings.

If you have little ones, the first parade might be your best bet. But if you can stay out late, I always recommend the second one. It is less crowded, so you will have more flexibility on where to sit and a bit more breathing room.

For the best views, find a spot on Main Street or near Liberty Square about 30 to 40 minutes before showtime. Grab a snack, rest your feet, and enjoy the people-watching while you wait.

Get a Family Photo with Mickey (or Another Special Character)

During the Halloween party, you’ll find Mickey dressed in his Halloween best in the Town Square Theater. The line for photos can get long, so this is another one to either hit early or later in the night.

Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party is a rare opportunity to meet Disney characters who don’t often appear in the parks. Look for characters like Jack Skellington and Sally, various Disney villains, and characters in their Halloween costumes. Check the event guide for meet and greet locations and times.

If character photos are a priority, have a plan. Pick one or two must-do characters and get in line early, sometimes even before the party officially starts. You will not be able to meet everyone in one night, so choose your favorites and enjoy the magic when it happens.

Don’t Miss the New 2026 Experiences

Two brand-new experiences debut this year, and both are worth working into your plan.

Over in Tomorrowland, A Masquerade with Stitch takes over the Rockettower Plaza Stage, where Stitch, Lilo, and Angel host an ever-changing dance party. After Stitch gets his paws on Lilo’s costume trunk, every accessory he tries on sparks a new theme, so the party stays playfully unpredictable all night.

Then in Adventureland, Spirited Swashbucklers brings Captain Jack Sparrow ashore for a series of pirate antics. If you have Stitch fans or pirate lovers in your group, these are easy wins that the whole family will remember.

Plan to Trick or Treat

What is Halloween without some candy? Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party offers trick-or-treating for guests of all ages throughout the Magic Kingdom. With different stations set up around the park, you can stock up on goodies. You’ll see illuminated inflatables to mark the treat stops throughout the theme park.

You’ll receive a bag at the beginning of the party to collect your candy. When the party begins, the lines for the candy can be long. Give it a little bit of time and wait until they start moving more quickly to make the most of your time.

Disney offers allergy-friendly treats for guests with dietary restrictions. Simply request a teal treat bag, collect tokens at each treat station, and redeem them for allergy-friendly goodies at designated locations.

Have Fun!

Soak up the special elements, make memories with your people, and remember that you do not have to do every single thing to have an amazing night. The families who have the best time are almost always the ones who picked a few priorities and gave themselves permission to skip the rest.
