Using mobile order at Walt Disney World is genuinely simple once you have done it once. Here is exactly how it works from start to finish.

First, open the My Disney Experience app and sign in. Tap the plus sign in the center at the bottom of your screen, then choose the Order Food option.

From there, you can pick between As Soon As Possible or Schedule for Later, which is my favorite way to plan ahead. You will see a list of participating restaurants sorted by location, and if you are not currently at the park you want, you can use the drop down menu to switch to a different park, resort, or Disney Springs.

Once you find your restaurant, tap Begin Order and browse the menu. Add your items to your cart, choose an arrival window, and add any customizations the app allows. Keep in mind that very specific requests are sometimes better handled in person, so if you have a complicated order you may want to skip mobile ordering for that meal.

When you are happy with everything, tap Review Order Summary, make any final changes, and move to payment. Your card is charged once you confirm, and you will get a confirmation on screen and by email. Here is the part that trips up first timers, so pay attention. Your food is not made when you pay. It is made when you physically arrive at the restaurant and tap the I’m Here, Prepare My Order button in the app. This keeps your food hot and fresh instead of sitting under a heat lamp waiting for you.

Once you tap that button, the kitchen gets to work, and most orders are ready within just a few minutes. The app sends you a notification when your food is ready, and then you head to the Mobile Order Pick-Up area, show your order on your phone, and grab your meal.

New Mobile Ordering Updates You Should Know

Disney has quietly improved a few things about mobile ordering recently, and these updates are worth knowing before your next trip. The biggest change is that you can now place mobile orders at some resort quick service restaurants without being physically nearby. For a while you had to be on property and close to the restaurant to order, but now you can plan ahead and have your resort meal ordered before you even arrive.

You may still see a pop up saying mobile ordering is only available to guests staying at that specific resort, but in most cases you can simply tap OK and continue ordering anyway. This is a nice perk if you love resort hopping and want to grab a bite at a hotel you are just visiting for the afternoon.

The other thing to know is that participating locations change from time to time. Disney adds and occasionally removes restaurants from the mobile order list, so the app is always your most accurate source. I recommend opening it the morning of your park day and scanning which spots and arrival windows are available before you commit to a plan.

Right down the way, Docking Bay 7 inside Star Wars Galaxy’s Edge serves up some of the most fun themed food in the entire resort, and mobile ordering here saves you serious time in one of the busiest lands.

Finally, at Animal Kingdom, Satu’li Canteen in Pandora is a favorite for a reason. The customizable bowls with grilled chicken, beef, or tofu and all the toppings are delicious, and mobile ordering is really the best way to enjoy this spot without losing time in line during the Pandora rush.
