If your next trip to the Walt Disney World includes plans to visit Star Wars Galaxy’s Edge at Hollywood Studios then this is the post for you. Here you will find tips to make your visit to a galaxy far, far away the ultimate Disney experience. From Star Wars-themed attractions and specialty foods you need to try, you will find the best Star Wars Galaxy’s Edge tips you need right here!
Where is Star Wars Galaxy’s Edge Located?
At Walt Disney World, Star Wars Galaxy’s Edge is located at Hollywood Studios. Once you enter the park, you’ll head down Hollywood Boulevard and take a left in front of Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway. Walk until you see the Muppet Courtyard and then the entrance to Galaxy’s Edge will be to your right. You can also go to Toy Story Land at the back of the park and enter Galaxy’s Edge through the other side.

Galaxy’s Edge at Disneyland is very similar to the location at Disney World. The west coast version is located in Disneyland Park.
What Kind of Ticket Do You Need For Galaxy’s Edge?
You will need a Disney World park ticket for Hollywood Studios on the date of your visit to experience Galaxy’s Edge. You may also want to purchase Genie+ as well as an Individual Lightning Lane for Rise of the Resistance in order to avoid long wait times and make the most of your experience.
Experience Batuu
Entering Star Wars Galaxy’s Edge is like stepping into a whole other world. A perfect blend of fantasy and reality, the planet of Batuu is a haven for Star Wars fans who are looking for a truly immersive experience. As soon as you enter, you are transported to the far reaches of the Star Wars universe, a place where anything is possible and the force is strong.

Galaxy’s Edge is extremely immersive and you will feel like you are in another world. Everything from the unique surroundings, the sounds of x-wings flying by, a unique language, and the occasional Storm Troopers passing by will add to your experience.
Star Wars Galaxy’s Edge Food
You simply must try some of the food available to you in Star Wars Galaxy’s Edge. You have probably already heard about the famous blue and green milk available at the Milk Stand, but there is also Oga’s Cantina, Docking Bay 7 Food and Cargo, and Ronto Roasters to choose from. Reservations are highly recommended for Oga’s Cantina, and if you want to save your time for exploring the parks instead of waiting in line, online ordering is available everywhere in Galaxy’s Edge except for Oga’s Cantina.

In need of a snack? Don’t miss the Outpost Popcorn Mix from Kat Saka’s Kettle. This Galaxy’s Edge popcorn is a mix of sweet and spicy flavors and fun colors!

My personal favorites are the Breakfast Ronto Wrap from Ronto Roasters and the Bespin Fizz at Oga’s Cantina.
Make an Advanced Reservation for a Lightsaber or Droid
That’s right, you can build a lightsaber at Savi’s Workshop, or customize your very own droid at the Droid Depot. You will need reservations for both of these experiences and, be forewarned, that they are on the pricey side. Building a droid at the Depot will cost you $119.99 plus tax, and to build your custom lightsaber at Savi’s it will cost $249.99 plus tax.

These experiences are very popular and you will need to make a reservation ahead of time. Reservations open up 60 days before your trip. You’ll need to include a credit card at the time of booking, but it will only be charged if you don’t cancel ahead of time or are a no-show for your reservation. You’ll pay for your droids or lightsabers when you arrive at your experience.
Star Wars Galaxy’s Edge Attractions
The two major attractions in Star Wars Galaxy’s Edge are Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run and Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance. Both of these attractions are extremely popular, meaning there will be a line. Both of these rides are interactive, immersive, and completely worth the wait.

Smugglers Run is a motion simulator where you’ll fly in the Millennium Falcon and attempt to deliver the coaxial to Hondo Ohnaka. There are different positions and your experience will be different depending on which one you get. I recommend being the pilot that gets to send the Millennium Falcon into hyperspace!
Rise of the Resistance is not like any other ride you’ve ever experienced. You’ll join the Resistance to battle against the First Order. There are multiple parts to this immersive experience before you even get to the ride vehicle. It is truly a must for any Star Wars fan to experience.

If you purchase Genie+ for the day, you’ll be able to select a time for Smugglers Run. Available spots can go pretty quickly so make sure you are ready to make your selection! You can also purchase an Individual Lightning Lane for Rise of the Resistance. This ride typically has quite a long wait, so I would highly recommend purchasing this to avoid hours in line.
Pro Tip: If you don’t mind splitting up, Smugglers Run has a single rider line that typically moves much quicker than the traditional standby line.
Visit the Black Spire Market Outpost
Galaxy’s Edge adventurers, make sure to visit Black Spire Market Outpost for a truly intergalactic experience. The Creatures Stall is the perfect place to pick up a soft companion, while Toydarian Toymaker offers hand-crafted Star Wars toys. If you’re in search of gear from both the Resistance and the First Order, don’t forget to check out the Resistance Supply and First Order Cargo shops. Get ready for an unforgettable adventure!

Play with the Galaxy’s Edge Data Pad
Download the Play Disney Parks app on your phone before your visit and you will be able to play games in all of the parks. When you enter Star Wars Galaxy’s Edge the game is Data Pad, another interactive experience for you to enjoy as you wander through Batuu. There are missions to complete and lots of hidden items for you to find to help you on your quest.
If you have the new MagicBand+, you can also play Batuu Bounty Hunters with the Play Disney Parks app. When you’re in the park and ready to get started, open the app on your phone and head to the Bounty Board near Millenium Falcon: Smuggler’s Run. Tap your MagicBand+ on the board and receive your assignment. Your band will flash different colors based on how close you are to your target. Happy hunting!
Take Photopass Photos
There are so many epic picture opportunities in Star Wars Galaxy’s Edge. You should definitely opt for the Photopass photos here. You can also ask the cast member for “Magic Shots”. When you download your photos later in the day, you’ll spot some special surprises in your photos, like a porg on your arm!
Be On the Lookout for Star Wars Characters
You might encounter several of your favorite Star Wars characters throughout Galaxy’s Edge. Be on the lookout for Rey, Chewbacca, Kylo Ren, and Stormtroopers during your visit. Some may be walking through the area or hanging around certain areas. These are not traditional character meet and greets where you wait in a line and have a one-on-one interaction and a special moment with one of these characters cannot be forced or expected.

Other Star Wars Experiences at Disney World
Outside of Galaxy’s Edge, there are a couple of other Star Wars experiences in Hollywood Studios for those that don’t want to miss anything.
For starters, the park offers “Star Tours – The Adventures Continue,” a reimagined version of the original Star Tours ride with a variety of different scenarios. With the help of C-3PO, you can embark on a thrilling journey across the galaxy, playing out scenes from the original Star Wars trilogy as well as the new films. With the help of the 3D motion simulator, guests can experience the thrill of a starfighter mission and more.
There is also the Star Wars Launch Bay. Explore immersive exhibits of costumes, models, concept artwork, and actual movie props—as well as authentic replicas created just for Star Wars Launch Bay. Tour a Cantina and other settings inspired by the films, then share a furry embrace with Chewbacca, meet Darth Vader, the menacing Dark Lord of the Sith; or stop by to see the droid on duty—BB-8. These are the character meet and greets that you are used to, so this is a great experience to get those special photos!

The Star Wars Galactic Starcruiser is a truly immersive, 2-night experience. You will embark on a first-of-its-kind Star Wars adventure that’s all your own. After arriving at the Walt Disney World Resort terminal, board a launch pod, and experience the magnificent Halcyon starcruiser. Stay in a cabin or suite with an exquisite view of outer space. Throughout the ship, you’ll interact with a collection of characters, sit down to exotic galactic cuisine, and perhaps even plot a secret mission together. Unfortunately, the final voyage of the Galactic Starcruiser will be in September 2023.
From the most dedicated Star Wars fans to newcomers to the series, Star Wars Galaxy’s Edge is a one-of-a-kind experience that will leave a lasting impression on those who enter. As guests traverse the path of the Jedi, they will come away from the experience with an appreciation for the rich legacy of the Star Wars universe and the knowledge that anything is possible.
Use these tips to help you navigate a galaxy far far away when you visit Star Wars Galaxy’s Edge on your next trip. If you have already been and have some other tips to share please add them below. What are you most looking forward to seeing or doing in Star Wars Galaxy’s Edge?
