Everything you love about a s'more with none of the campfire mess. This easy s'mores dip is melty chocolate and toasty golden marshmallows, ready in about fifteen minutes.
Preheat your oven to 450 degrees. A fully hot oven is what toasts the marshmallows quickly and evenly instead of melting them into a puddle.
Rub the softened butter around the bottom and sides of a small oven safe skillet or baking dish.
Add the chocolate chips in an even layer across the bottom of the dish.
Cover the chocolate with the mini marshmallows, arranging them close together in a single generous layer so they form a full blanket over the top.
Bake for 5 to 7 minutes, until the marshmallows puff up and turn deep golden brown. For a classic campfire char, broil the last 30 seconds, but watch closely because they can burn quickly.
Let it cool for about a minute, sprinkle with flaky sea salt if using, and serve warm with graham crackers while the chocolate is still molten.
Notes
Serve it warm for the best texture. If it firms up before you get to it, thirty seconds back in a warm oven brings it right back. For fun variations, spread a spoonful of peanut butter or Nutella under the chocolate, swap in dark or caramel filled chocolate, or add a pinch of cinnamon to the chocolate layer in the fall. Pretzel rods, strawberries, and banana slices all make great dippers alongside the graham crackers.
