Here’s How You Can Ride Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind at Epcot

Are you ready to save the galaxy?! After so much anticipation, it’s time for Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind to open at Epcot! To make sure you’re ready, here are a few ways you can ride this new, indoor roller coaster on your next Walt Disney World vacation. The ride is currently in previews and will be available for everyone to ride starting May 27th!

Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind ride at Epcot

Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind will open with a virtual queue, like so many other new rides have used. The option to purchase an individual Lightning Lane entry for an additional cost will also be available. This ride will not use a traditional standby line at this time. Here are some tips!

Virtual Queue

The first, and most important, thing you’ll need to have set up is having a valid park admission linked in the My Disney Experience app and a park reservation for Epcot on the day you want to visit. Be sure everyone in your travel party is linked and sharing plans through your Friends & Family list.

At 7:00 a.m. on the day of your park reservation, you will be able to check for an available boarding group inside the My Disney Experience app and request access to the virtual queue. This can be done from your hotel room or while you are traveling to the park.

You will have a second opportunity to join the virtual queue at 1:00 p.m. if you were not able to get a boarding group earlier. The difference with this time slot is that guests must be in Epcot to access this opportunity. Take note that this time is still before park hopping begins so you will have to start your day at Epcot for both of these virtual queue options.

You will only be able to enter the virtual queue once per day during regular park hours.

This option does not require an additional purchase.

Virtual Queue During Extended Evening Hours

If you are staying at a Disney Deluxe Resort, Disney Deluxe Villa Resort, Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin and Swan Reserve, or Shades of Green will have an extra opportunity to join the virtual queue at 6:00 p.m. on select dates during the special extended evening park hours. Check out the available dates if you’re staying at one of these resorts!

You will not need to be in Epcot to request to join at that time, but will need valid park admission and either a theme park reservation for Epcot for that day OR have the option to visit more than one park per day (Park Hopper ticket or Annual Pass) and enter the first park where you made your park reservation.

Just as above, there is not an additional cost to enter the virtual queue.

You can see which boarding group is currently being called by either checking the app or finding one of the digital tip boards in the park.

Tips to Join the Virtual Queue

  • Be Ready Ahead of Time: Make sure you know how to navigate the My Disney Experience account ahead of time. Everyone in your travel party should be linked along with your park admission and park reservations. Sign on to the app before the distribution time and then refresh exactly when it opens. Spots will go quickly, likely within a couple of minutes!
  • Check Availability: Log in to the My Disney Experience app at one of the distribution times. Select “Virtual Queues” on the home screen to view the current status and next steps for joining a virtual queue. The app will indicate when there is no availability for a specific distribution time, or if a backup group is available.
  • Enroll Your Group: As long as your Disney account is linked to your group’s park tickets, and everyone has valid admission and park reservations for the park you will visit, you can enroll everyone in the virtual queue at the same time, based on availability.
  • Enjoy the Experience: If your boarding group is called to return, you’ll receive a notification via the My Disney Experience app. You can head over to the attraction and scan in.

Purchase Individual Lightning Lane Entry

You also have the option to purchase an individual Lightning Lane entry in the My Disney Experience app using Disney Genie. Just like the boarding groups, this option is limited and subject to availability. You will still have to have valid admission and a park reservation for Epcot, or the option to park hop for times that are after 2:00 p.m.

There is an additional cost for this one. The price varies based on date, so it will not be the same every day. You do not need to purchase Genie+ to be able to purchase an individual Lightning Lane.

Guests staying on Disney property will be able to purchase this option in the app at 7:00 a.m. If you are staying off property, you will not be able to purchase the Lightning Lane until the park opens (if there are any times still available). The times typically are gone within a couple of minutes, so have everything linked in your app and know how to navigate it ahead of time. I recommend being logged into the app before 7:00 a.m. and then immediately refreshing exactly at 7:00 a.m.

Things to Note

  • Joining the virtual queue does not guarantee the ability to participate in the experience.
  • In order to give as many guests as possible the opportunity to join the queue, each guest can enter the virtual queue for a given experience no more than once per day, subject to availability.
  • Boarding groups for a virtual queue are limited, subject to availability, and are not guaranteed. Not all boarding groups may be called to return, based on availability of the experience.
  • Guests may not hold a boarding group for more than one experience at the same time. If more than one experience is using a virtual queue, guests will need to enter those virtual queues one at a time.

FAQs

  • Once my boarding group is called, how long do I have to ride Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind? You will have one hour from the time you receive the notification that your group has been called. Make sure you have your notifications turned on!
  • What is the height requirement? Guests must be 42″ tall to ride.
  • Is there a ride photo? Yes, you can have your attraction photo linked to your My Disney Experience account by using Bluetooth or your Magic Band.
  • Can Rider Switch be used? Yes! You can find all of the details here.
  • Can I use DAS for this ride? Right now, guests that qualify to use DAS will still need to join the virtual queue for Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind. A DAS return time will not be distributed like it as for rides that have a regular standyby line. You can find out more about DAS here.
  • Will I get motion sickness? This is definitely a thrill ride! If you are prone to motion sickness, you might want to sit this one out.
  • Does Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind go upside down? No, it does not go upside down.
  • Can I ride more than once on the same day? If you are able to grab a boarding group and an individual Lightning Lane, then yes!

Do you feel like you’re ready for your adventure through the galaxy? If you have questions, leave them in the comments. I hope this was helpful!

Dining at La Crêperie de Paris in Epcot

The newly expanded France Pavilion at Epcot in Walt Disney World in Orlando includes a new restaurant, La Crêperie de Paris. This is a great addition to the dining options at Epcot for a table service meal and I was so excited to try it out for lunch on a recent trip.

La Crêperie de Paris in Epcot features savory buckwheat galettes and sweet crêpes inspired by the Brittany region of France. You can dine during breakfast, lunch, or dinner although the menu is the same throughout the day.

Where is La Crêperie de Paris in Epcot Located?

La Crêperie de Paris is located in the newly expanded France Pavilion at Epcot. You will see the building just before you get to the new ride, Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure.

What are Galletes and Crêpes?

These two classic French dishes look very similar but they differ based on how they are made and what they are paired with.

Galettes tend to be savory and they are made using gluten-free buckwheat flour. These are typically a main course and filled with items like egg, cheese, ham, etc.

Crêpes are like a thin pancake. They are made using eggs, milk, and all-purpose flour. Crêpes tend to be desserts and filled with sweet items and other items like fruit.

The menu at La Crêperie de Paris was created by celebrity chef, Jérôme Bocuse.

Do You Need a Reservation for La Crêperie de Paris?

This restaurant is one that you are able to make reservations for. Dining reservations currently open 60 days ahead of time. If you are not able to make a reservation prior to your trip, you can try the walk up window on the other side of the building.

You will need valid park admission as well as an Epcot park reservation for the day of your visit, or have the ability to park hop after 2:00 pm from another park.

Need help making theme park reservations? Check out this post for instructions!

Walk Up Window at Crêpes À Emporter

Don’t have a reservation or wanting to grab a crêpe on the go? Visit the quick service window at Crêpes À Emporter right next door.

The menu here is a bit smaller than the table service next door, but features some of the same favorites. Find three savory crêpes, four sweet crêpes, ice cream, some ciders, wine, and other non-alcoholic beverages.

Bon appétit!

2021 Epcot International Flower & Garden Festival: Top Picks

One of my favorite festivals, Taste of EPCOT International Flower and Garden Festival begins March 3, 2021! Spring will be in the air and you can find fresh foods, character topiaries, and beautiful flowers throughout the park until July 5, 2021.

Throughout the World Showcase, there will be more than 20 spots to try the food and drink that’s exclusive to the festival. You can find the complete Foodie Guide on the Disney Parks Blog, and I’ll share some of my favorites! The EPCOT Sunshine Griddle is a new outdoor kitchen featuring brunch items that sounds like a perfect new addition. Not to be missed though, longtime favorites like Violet Lemonade and Frushi will be back.

A great way to work your way through the outdoor kitchens is by following along the Garden Graze. The Festival Passport lists five items and with each purchase of those items, you’ll receive a stamp. Once you have all five, you can show your completed passport page at the Pineapple Promenade for a complimentary gift! This is great if you’ll have multiple trips to the festival because you do not need to complete it all in one day.

For the little ones, Spike’s Pollen Nation Exploration scavenger hunt is a fun activity with a special prize once completed. The cost to purchase the map is $7.99 + tax. The Spike and Orange Bird sippers are back this year too!

In the past, the Flower and Garden Festival featured the Garden Rocks concert series, featuring musical acts like Sister Hazel, Rick Springfield, and more. This year will be a bit different as the stage at the America Gardens Theatre will feature local bands from the Orlando area Friday through Monday evenings.

5 Items on My Must-Try List:

  1. Arancini: Sweet Sausage Fried Risotto Balls with Pomodoro Sauce – Primavera Kitchen in Italy
  2. Seared Scallops with French Green Beans, Butter Potatoes, Brown Butter Vinaigrette and Apple-wood-smoked Bacon – Northern Bloom in Canada
  3. Key Lime Tart with Toasted Meringue – Festival Favorites in World Showplace
  4. Shrimp and Grits: Blackened Shrimp and Cheddar Cheese Grits with Brown Gravy and Sweet Corn Salsa – EPCOT Sunshine Griddle in Future World East
  5. Lavender Honey Mustard-marinated Chicken Flatbread with Whipped Honey-Ricotta Cheese, Marinated Vegetables, and Purple Haze Lavender Goat Cheese – The Honey Bee-stro in Showcase Plaza

Do you need some outfit inspo for your trip to the Flower and Garden Festival? Check out these looks linked below!

The festival is included with a regular park ticket to EPCOT, just make sure to make a Park Pass reservation for the day you plan to visit! Let me know what new foodie items you tried in the comments so we can know what’s a hit or miss.

EPCOT’s International Festival of the Arts 2020 Highlights

EPCOT at Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida now has multiple festivals throughout the year with special food booths, activities, merchandise, and entertainment. The International Festival of the Arts is one of the newest. This year it runs from January 17, 2020 through February 24, 2020.

There is so much to see, I’m glad we will have one more visit before the festival ends!

Here are some of my favorites from my visit during earlier this month:

The character meeting locations have special artwork that’s out even when the characters aren’t meeting.  This is in the UK where Alice meets.

This “Make it Pink, Make it Blue” portrait of Aurora is in her meeting spot in France.

The Expression Section features a paint-by-number mural each day from 11:00 am – 5:00 pm. When you walk up to the booth, they will give you a paint brush and a container with paint telling you which number squares to paint. When you’re finished, you get a cute postcard with the picture you just helped paint!

The Living Statues are out by the temporary Mouse Gears from 11:30 am – 4:00 pm.

The exclusive Festival of the Arts merchandise features Figment!  These cute paint cans have shirts inside of them.

The walkway between Future World and the World Showcase has gorgeous chalk art lining both sides.

There is also a 3D chalk art spot that you can jump into the picture! So much fun!

One of the construction walls between the Imagination pavilion and the Land pavilion is lined with beautiful butterflies for some fun photo ops.

My shirt is from my friends at Lake Buena Visitors – check them out on Etsy!

There are a lot of fun art activities, like this Spin Art you create while peddaling on a bike.

Some booths have merchandise like these shirts, art work with visiting artists, scarves, candles and more

The Deconstructed Dish booth has a fun drink, Rainboba. It’s sparkling water with a raspberry foam on top and boba pearls at the bottom. Plus, you can keep the cute plastic flute it comes in!

Also at the Deconstructed Dish, the strawberry cheesecake is delish!

I tried the scallop with chorizo, roasted red pepper coulis, and parmesan crisp at the Artist’s Table between the American Adventure and Japan pavilion.

I really loved the pollo alla pirandello, a golden chicken drumstick stuffed with ricotta cheese and pomodoro sauce in Italy.

You can find the artist palette jumbo chocolate chip cookie with “paint” icing at a few locations throughout the festival.

The paint brush churros are at the Refreshment Outpost in the African Outpost. They’re cute but they really weren’t that great unfortunately.

Joffrey’s Coffee and Tea Company offers three specialty latte & donut pairings at their different locations in the park. I tried the Baroque Pairing at the American Adventure – a white mocha iced latte layered with a red velvet donut and sprinkles.

The Disney on Broadway Series features three daily shows headlined by Broadway stars who reprise favorite songs from past performances in award winning shows. The shows are at the America Gardens Theater and are included with park admission.

You can be in the artwork! Lots of different photo spots throughout the park.

Some Photo Pass photographers have special props you can use in your photos. Can’t wait to try some more food and see one of my favorite Disney artists during our next visit!xoxo, Shannon
